It has been 2 years since the last time I had shot on the track at Long Beach and I must say it’s great to be back doing so. It’s always an amazing track and event to go to as these are local close to home streets personally as the experience of seeing 1000HP cars sliding across while kicking back with other close photographers and meeting new ones as well. Enough talk, here is Formula D Streets of Long Beach 2014.
(I did mostly video coverage. Below is a few photos I did throughout the event.)
Shot and edited by Mikey Dang
Additional clips by Rick Rosales
Soundtrack: Pegboard Nerds ft. Elizaveta (Original/Halcyon/Nine of Kings/Photo M.D. Remix)

I was early to the media meeting to find that the venue was open in the paddock to roam around to capture early clips.
Here’s a shot of Dai’s brand new Whiteline Equipped Rocket Bunny Turbo LS Swapped Subaru BR-Z. Say that 10 x’s fast.
2013 Formula Drift Champion Michael Essa’s BMW E46 M3.
Digging the new livery for 2014.
Spotted Seibon Carbon’s Widebody Varis BR-Z hiding in the Media Meeting area.
Catching Gina, Natalie, and Eva in the Nitto Tire booth.
Always a pleasure seeing the Hankook girls. Left to Right (Erica Nagashima, Jessica Harbour, Sadie May, and Katelynn Ansari.
Daigo Saito not flipped over as many people kept posting on social media.
Charles (Not Chester) Ng running his Infiniti G37.
A widebody E30? What?!?
Not sure if he had something go wrong but this Rocket Bunny 240 cruised in on the last turn.
Ken Gushi chasing Odi during top 32.
Odi Bakchis chasing Gushi
new driver Kuniaki Takahashi taking over (correct me if I’m wrong) Pat Mourdant’s old SC430 that’s now converted to RHD.
Just a scratch.
Did not realize there was one guy in those stands by himself.
Dennis Mertzanis in that 1,000 HP V-8 Genesis Coupe.
Kyle Mohan going hard at that hairpin.
Only time I caught Pat Mordaunt running. From what I was told, he blew his motor after top 32.
Dean Kearney gobbling up that clipping point.
Much drift
Caught Danny George but something went wrong during qualifying. Hope things are back up and running again for Atlanta. Rooting for ya buddy!
Was glad to see Tuerck’s FR-S back to tip top shape after that hard collision from media day.
Daigo ran into clutch issues after a collision between him and Pat Goodin.
Darren McNamara running the Falken S14. Last time I saw him running at Long Beach was 2 years back when he had his Saturn Sky coming at me during turn 10. That was my first FD crash experience and happened to be 5 feet away from me.
Kyle Mohan hit hard during top 32. He was able to make a comeback and continue to run in top 16.
Forsberg’s new menacing full dry carbon fiber 370Z.
Michael Essa qualified 1st for the event automatically placing him in 3rd.
Time to end this coverage as I did in the video with the Ken clones. We will see you next time in a later Formula D event.
